Free walking tour MálagaPut on the headset and travel through time

Did you know Columbus was in Málaga before he discovered America? What was he doing here? Do you know the fascinating story of how the Catholic Monarchs conquered the city? And who founded it?

It is a walking free tour with your guide, just like always: discover all the secrets of the old town, from the Paseo del Parque to the Picasso Museum. The extra: at 4 stops you put on a state-of-the-art virtual reality headset and see a Málaga that no longer exists. With your guide, as always. But travelling through time, like never before.

Join a new way of discovering Málaga.

The journey begins even before you put on the headset: as we walk through the old town, your guide will reveal anecdotes, curiosities and secrets of the city, linking every spot with its most surprising past.

But the real magic happens when certain stops become a portal in time. Every headset you put on opens a window onto a Málaga that no longer exists. We have taken traditional tours to another level, adding state-of-the-art virtual reality to completely transform the way you get to know the city. Our VR route lets you watch history come to life right before your eyes.

We walk today's streets, but at each key spot you will be immersed in other ages. The experience combines storytelling, immersive technology and scenes designed to make you feel you are really there, living the city as it was centuries ago.

A different, surprising tour full of unique moments you will not find on any other tour.

This is not just visiting Málaga: it is travelling through time. Ready to live it?

How it works

A real, live guide and a headset that takes you to the past

Virtual reality does not replace the guide: it brings the story to life. You compare what is in front of you with what stood there centuries ago.

  1. Meet your guide

At the Tourist Information Office in Plaza de la Marina, 10-15 minutes early. A uniformed guide with state-of-the-art VR glasses will be waiting for you.

  2. Put on the headset

At 4 stops along the route you put on the headset and see what those very places looked like in other ages, in 360° with sound.

  3. No fixed price: whatever you like

At the end, next to the Picasso Museum, everyone gives what they think the experience was worth. Cash or card.

FAQ

Before you book

How does a free tour with virtual reality work?

It is a guided tour with no fixed price: at the end, each participant contributes what they like according to their experience. At some stops you put on state-of-the-art, very easy-to-use VR glasses and see the places as they were in other eras, in 360° with sound.

I wear glasses. Can I use them with the VR headset?

We recommend wearing contact lenses, which is more comfortable. If your frames are not too big and fit inside the glasses, you can use them without any problem.

Is it suitable for children?

Of course, they love it! From age 7 they get their own headset. Under-7s can come along and share one with an adult.

How many people can come?

We have 30 VR headsets, so up to 30 people. For groups of more than 10, please message us on WhatsApp beforehand.

What if it rains?

The tour usually goes ahead even in the rain. If it rains heavily, we move it to another date.

Can I cancel or change the date?

You can cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before the activity starts.

How long is the free tour?

About 90 minutes on foot, from Plaza de la Marina to the Picasso Museum, with 4 virtual reality stops.

Is there a free tour in English in Málaga?

Yes, the free tour runs in Spanish and English. When you book, you choose your group’s language, plus the day and time in the calendar on this page.
